Contest Theme: Gaviota’s Summer Soul
Judging Criteria: Photos will be judged based on how well they showcase the contest’s theme, as well as on composition, creativity, visual storytelling, and emotional resonance.
The winner and runners up will be announced on September 15th, 2026.
First place prize: two tickets to see Jack Johnson at the Santa Barbara Bowl on October 4th 2026
Submitted photos may be featured, crediting the photographer, on GCC’s website, social media, and other materials.
Contest Rules:
- Photo must be taken somewhere on the Gaviota Coast, which extends from Coal Oil Point in Goleta, west to Point Sal near Guadalupe (map below)
- Photos must be taken during the month of August. 2026 preferred, but not required
- Submit only your original photo(s). AI or someone else’s photos are not allowed
- Maximum of two photo entries per contestant
- Entries due by Monday August 31. No extensions
- Captions and/or photographer’s notes encouraged
- Photos that feature recognizable humans must include a talent release
- File type and size:
- File Format: JPEG
- Color Space: sRGB
- Dimensions: longest side maximum 2,000-3,000 pixels
- File Size: Maximum 15 MB
- By entering the contest, entrants agree that photos submitted can be used by GCC on GCC’s website, social media, and other materials
