Ride the Gaviota Coast with SB Bike Coalition and Naples Coalition
Long Ride and Short Ride

We will ride from downtown Santa Barbara to Ellwood Elementary School, where we will pick up additional riders, and then on to Naples (a.k.a. Santa Barbara Ranch). At Naples we'll have lunch and hike around this amazing property, which is a bellwether for the future of Gaviota and features some of the most picturesque views of our world-renowned coast.
Experienced and novice riders are welcome!
All participants are asked to have a bike in working condition, to wear a helmet and to sign a liability waiver. A 10 minute mandatory bike safety review will be lead by a SBBIKE certified League Cycling Instructor (LCI) before the start of the ride.
9:00 am: Meet at Bici Centro at 434 Olive St for some coffee and a last minute bike check-up
9:40 am: 10-minute safety talk
10:00 am: The first group will depart for the Naples Property (please note that a segment of the ride is along the US 101)
11:00 am: 10-minute safety talk at Ellwood
11:15 am: A second group will depart from Ellwood to Naples (please note that a segment of the ride is along the US 101)
12:30 pm: Lunch provided by Savoy Café and Deli on the Naples bluffs
1:00-2:00 pm: Hike around Naples (a guided hike will be offered for riders interested in the history and ecology of this special place)
2:15- 2:30pm at the latest: Head back toward Ellwood (and Bici Centro)
Terrain: Road, Class I bike path and along US 101
Youth: Participants must be 12 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian
Distance: 40 miles roundtrip from Bici Centro
10 miles roundtrip from Ellwood Elementary School
Elevation gain: 400 ft
Difficulty: Moderate-difficult, if not fit

Cost: $10/person to cover a picnic lunch provided by Savoy Cafe & Deli, guides and support riders. This is a no-drop ride: nobody will be left behind
Payment is necessary to RSVP with Santa Barbara Bike Coalition and to secure a spot
In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled the following week-end on Saturday, February 6th.
