These transition zones help create the unique beauty and richness of the coastal area, according to naturalist and retired state park ranger Mike Lunsford. Join Mr. Lunsford for a free talk tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Solvang Public Library. In "Gaviota Coast: A Landscape at the Edge," Mr. Lunsford, current board president for the Gaviota Coast Conservancy, will discuss the geology of the Gaviota coast, area habitats and the Gaviota coast's role as a safe harbor for imperiled wildlife. The lecture is sponsored by the Santa Ynez Valley Natural History Society.
